Where does the time go?

I have not had a proper session in my craft room since before christmas, I can not believe there are just a few days of Jan left and my craft room is still covered in pre christmas clutter!!

I think i need a serious de-clutter before i will get my crafting bug back again! I have had a little de-clutter on here but i am going to start putting things on ebay as i want to get rid of things sooner rather than later now and re-claim my room!!

I miss crafting but what wtih working and excercise plus putting some effort into my dieting i have not had anymore spare time lol!!

Right i am off, camera in hand to take some snaps of craft stuff and get it all listed!

The Clearout Begins......

I have not had the energy to post this week after going back to work and trying to squeeze in the running of a house in around that i have not even ventured into my craft room lol!!

But today i have started a big and ruthless clear out!
I will be listing items on my for sale page here and on UKS to try and gain control of my craft room again, if i have not used it in 6 months it is going!

I have tied the rope to my ankle and am going in!! wish me luck!

Hello out there, I am still alive!
I can not believe where the last few months have gone!!
I have done minimal Christmas crafting and no blogging at all, I think i really needed a break from it all and am feeling quite refreshed!
I have quite a few blog posts that need publishing so am going to set about getting those scheduled too but i think i will be back and blogging!!
I am planning to really cut back in 2012 and have already got a few bits to put on the for sale page of my blog too as my craft room is starting to resemble one of the rooms of the obsessive compulsive hoarders house!!
I am planning on doing so more posts on crafting on a budget too as I think it is something a lot of people are interested in too so watch this space!
It is back to work for me on Tuesday and I have a lot to get through before then but just wanted to pop on here and say hello to anyone who is still popping by, I hope you have had a wonderful christmas and holiday and that 2012 brings you everytihng you hope for xxx

Lately I seem to spend more time buying craft things, watching craft tv, shuffling craft things into piles and re arranging my craft room rather than doing any actual crafting!
I come up here to my craft room and seem to do anything but actually craft even when i have things i NEED to make!!
What is the name of this condition and is there a cure or at least some treatment?

My blog candy was a real disaster!!!
I went down to vivist my mum and had some posts scheduled for the rest of the candy that didnt work (thanks blogger!) and then while down at my mums i was poorly (still am!!) so didnt get back until yesterday!

So............

I am drawing the candy that was commented on (have published all of those comments now too!!)

So i am hoping that people will see this and get me there addresses emailed so i can get them out in time for halloween!!

I am still having a few problems with blogger on my laptop so am using another comp which i am not used to and is REALLY slow also there still seems to be some glitches so bear with me bloggers!!!

So i have for you tonight a little (well rather large really) hairclip that i plan to wear to school on friday when we have various spooky activities!

My clip started life as a pack or 3 spider decorations found at home bargains, he has a velvety feel to him but still looks quite creepy!!

I attached a clip to the bottom.....

.......using 2 circles of felt and some strong glue so that it looks neat and does not get stuck in my hair lol!!!

finally some bling for eyes and hey presto a funky halloween hair clip!!!

Hello bloggers, it has been a while! I am finally feeling better and have got back on top of things too!! I have loads or things to show you as i have still taken pics of everything i have made (despite not being able to see any pics in blogger, mine and other peeps, at the mo!!!)

Mini Tutorial :: 3 fold card blank using Sizzix Vintage Cabinet Card Die

I am pleased with how this card turned out as it was a bit of an experiment!!

I have wanted this die for ages but wanted to do something a little different with it

I had a little measure of the die when it arrived and it just so happened that the die cut shape was the width of a 3rd of A4 paper, this dosent often happen as so many things are designed for the american market

So firstly i scored a piece of A4 card int 3 equal sections and folded both of the side in so i was left with a section of A4 card 3 layers thick

I then lined this up in the die so that both sides were just inside the cut line of the die - in this pic you can see that the folds are just inside, but you will need tomake sure the card covers that top and bottom blades on the shape, in the photo mine dosen't but that was so you could see how i lined it up on the sides

This is what it shold look like, you can then decide if you want a zig zag fold or if you want more of a gate fold and then of course decorate it into what ever you want it to be!

New Die Preview :: Marianne Buttons and Card

As I plan to cut out my dies to go in my filing box as i get a new one i thought i would show you how they cut too as often shapes can look different to the images on the package and with more of us shopping online its nice to see what you would get before you get it!

my new die this week is this Tag and Buttons Die I have some projects planned for this but also thought it may be nice for mounting little gifts and things that i make too!

Too many dies..... Could this be the solution?

As many of you know I am a mega die cutting fan!!
But as my collection grows and grows i find sometimes i get a little stuck for ideas as i have too much to choose from or i find that dies i have really wanted go on my shelves and collect dust..... So I needed to find a solution!

And I am hoping this is it! it is an 8"x5" index card box, I got it from ebay for around a fiver posted
My plan is that from now on as i use an old die, or get a new one i will cut an extra one and pop it in my box

The plan being that when i want to work on a card i can grab my box and layer up the shapes i have cut from scraps to see how they would work together then i can get the dies out and cut the shapes if they work, I think this will let me get much more use from my dies!

I have already made a start and just written on the die cut what die was used

I like it as i can see if something will fit or work without hunting down the die and cutting it out first!

Just an idea i wanted to share with you, it ay not work for everyone but it may help some of you get a little more from your dies!

Christmas Gift Idea :: Felt Star Decorations

I have been doing a little more christmas making.... Sorry I know its early but I run out of time so quickly in the run up!

I am please with how they have turned out - they are not sewn again as i am struggling with my stitching but i love felt, but i am pleased with how they have turned out and the look quite neat!!

The stars were cut with the new Sizzix Framelits Dies - i love these dies so much!!!

I hope you like the decorations even without the sewing, i think they will look nice on the tree!

WOYWW :: Special Crafty Swap

This is a little piccy of waht is laid out on my workdesk today, it is the prettiest Cath Kidston Fabric from my crafty friend Sue (thanks Sue)

There was also a really cute card which matched the fabric and some ribbons and lace, I just keep stroking it, i don't think my sewing skills are good enough to be let loose on it yet so i am going to practice a few projects first!!
I love doing swaps, Sue responded to a little plea i put up on here looking for people to swap with as i think its quite inspiring! Sue and I have sent a few bits back and forth and its just nice to be able to play with something different

The pink stars and dainty flowers are my fave and they will be kept for a special project, not sure what yet but something to stroke in my craft room!!

Somthing a little pretty that i made the other day but have not had the chance to blog!!

Handmade Felt Bauble Christmas Decorations

I wanted to have a go at making some Christmas decorations as i am loving all things felt at the mo, but am always let down by my sewing skills!

This was my hand sewn attempt...... the look on the face of Mr Fairy said it all so it was back to the drawing board.....

So here are my attempts at a minimal sewing version

I am quite pleased with them but wanted to know what you guys thought!

I have embellished them with stickles and pearl stickles

I made one a bit more puffy by stuffing it a little and the others i left flat but layered if you know what i mean!

So what do you think, if you were given one as a gift would you hang it on your tree? If you saw them at a craft fair would you buy one?

Glass Etching Using a Die Cutting Machine :: Q&A

I have had a couple of glass etching questions of late
Firstly for those who have no idea what i am talking about - this was my original tutorial HERE

Can you use the vinyl stencil more than once?I have etched single glasses for presents and glasses well into the hundreds for weddings, due to the nature of the stencil and the way it goes on and is used you can only use it once

What Cream do you use for etching?I have only ever tried one etching cream, it works so well that i have not tried any others! I use Armour Etch

How long does the etching cream last?
I have done over 400 glasses (for a wedding) from my current pot of which there is a tiny bit left so it really does go a long way - the instructions tell you to put lots on but i put mine on quite sparingly and also scrape it back into the tub where i can!

What Vinyl can you use?
Sign writers vinyl is perfect as is the cricut vinyl now sold to do wall art and make peel offs with - colour is not important as it only ends up in the bin!

What machines can you use?
I have done this technique using a cricut, craft robo, slice, big shot and a cuttlebug, you just need a suitable shape to use but this technique is not limited to electric cutters you can run vinyl through the cuttlebug and bigshot too!

Product Review - Sizzix Framelits Dies in the Spotlight

Oh I really have found a new love here!!!!
I ordered a couple of sets of these from http://www.countryviewcrafts.co.uk/ on Thursday and they arrived Friday (fab service!) but i didnt have any time to play on Friday but made up for it yesterday!

When i saw these during CHA (on the net, I'm not special enough to actually go!!!) I thought oh they have just jumped on the spellbinders wagon! But actually i was wrong!!! I love these more than my loved and well used spellbinders!!

I really like that on the back of the pack it gives you a picture and measurement of each shape!
It also outlines the biggest differece between the nesties and framelits dies, with nesties the blade is in the middle of the metal strip, however with the framelits if is on the very inside of the shape

What this means is that when you are using it to cut a pattern, photos or printed shape what you see through the dies is exactly what you are going to get, no borders!

framlits die (silver) and nesties die (bronze) just to show position of the blade, you may think that the position of the blade is not a big deal, but if like me you are not an "embosser" you will be pleased to know that with the framelits dies you do not get the embossed border (i get this if i emboss or not a lot of the time)

Just a pic of a nesties die cut to show you the frame i get around the edge even if i don't emboss

Right back to the framelits..... I have a little play and as well as card, they also cut shirnk pastic, felt and fun foam

Something else i discovered is that if you want to cut an apperture in your card, you do get a little border around the shape, which i think looks quite nice!!

All in all i really love these dies and really would love some more sets of them!!

A Trio of Tags......

I was just having a play with these little tags really but am pleased with the results, I wanted to have a couple of tags on hand for when sending things to friends and for swaps!

This first tag, was made using some fabric that i kept which used to be an old cover for a shelf but it was a nice texture and i thought it would be nice for die cutting!

I stamped onto it using a normal Stampin up ink pad and then frayer the edges!

This tag was stamped and then i used a sizzix die cut shape (which i had originally thought would be good for making mini books) to make the little fram for the greeting

This tag was again stamped and the heart was cut and embossed using a new Stampin up cut and emboss die - i love it as it does the cutting and the embossing all at once!

I am still here and will be back blogging again from today, I have finished work now for what is left of the summer holidays and have started my annual craft room clear out!!

I have sorted out 5 boxes of stuff that i am going to start listing here on my for sale page from tomorrow, i will add photos and prices and postage will be charged at cost

I have taken most of my photos now and will get them uploaded tomorrow, there will be stuff from as low as 50p as i need my space back!!

Hey bloggers!! If there are any out there still reading!

I am so sorry i have not blogged in so long, life (both home and work) just took over!!!

But i am pleased to say i am back, lots has happened over the past few weeks, I have still been crafting and the weekend just gone saw me picking up a new car (i will take some pics when i have given her a wash as she was handed over pretty grubby!!

It is my birthday on wednesday and i have already hads some cards delivered that have a handmade feel to them so i shall share these with you on wednesday! I don't think i will be getting anything crafty this year as i asked for money towards my car!

The next 2 weeks sees me doing a craft club at school for the children so i will have some pics of thier projects too I hope!!

I am hoping to get lots done over the school holidays so watch this space bloggers!!

Layered Butterfly Card Using Stampin' Up! Sizzix Die

A little different to my normal style

The butterfly die cuts are embossed and tied with seam binding ribbon

I love the beautiful butterflies die from Stampin up and it is probably the thing i sell most of apart from the punches and you can see why it is so pretty and cuts felt which helps my current phase!!

Tutorial & Review :: Sizzix Ink-its Letterpress Plates for Bigshot, Vagabond and Cuttlebug

WOW! I have only had a quick play with these little babies but can safely say that i am already in LOVE!!!
I have been mega excited about these since i saw them at the Stitches show in Feb this year and was really excitied to get my hands on them this week!!!
For those that have not seen these this is what they look like, they are made of thick strong plastic and are the thickness of a B plate (cuttlebug) or cutting mat (sizzix) with the raised embossed part on top, I have taken some pics of these so you know what i mean!!

For my little review I have used the organic flourish plate, but you can view them all HERE Considering how much you can do with them (as i am about to show you) they are a really good price!!

I love the embossed AND inked effect
for all of these samples i have used VERSAmagic and Brilliance ink pads, you apply the ink to the plate and then layer up your "sandwich"
the sample above was done using just normal cardstock

the sample above was done on a heavy cardstock with a slight grain to it which i think shown in the inking

I then wanted to have a go without ink, for the embossing folder look - it makes a great impression!

The next thing to try had to be mirror card!! Hard to photo but looks stunning!

But this is my best "find" of the day and it was by accident!!
The package tells you to use a thin layer of foam in your sandwich but as i didn't have any i used a sheet of felt, and as i was experimenting i had a piece of card that was too short and it embossed and printed a tiny bit onto the felt, so naturally i had to have a go!!! and i love the results!!

Lastly i tried funky foam, again really stunning i can see me using these a lot!!!

So how do you use them?

Well they run through your die cutter a bit like an embossing folder, but you ink these up first!!
I will do a photo tutorial, but sandwiches are as follows:

Last week my Vagbond went to die cutting heven, what with die cutters and cars I really am queen of destruction lately!!!
So my vagabond has been replaced with a familiar favourite!
If i could only have one die cutter it would be my trusty big shot!!

Something else new to my work desk is a little sneak of a tutorial i am working on for the weekend involving the NEW sizzix letterpress plates - I think I am in love!!!

Last but not least on my work desk are some FAB goodies that came with my new big shot, this little addition from sizzix makes this in my opinion just fantastic for someone looking for a die cutting machine esp for the first time as it comes with everything (including a pack of papaers and DVD!!) you need to play with it right away!!
I have not watched the DVD yet but am really impressed with this little kit!!

Car Booty Looty!!!

Yesterday Helen (it's all fiddle fart) and I went to a massive car boot just up the road from me, I left to pick her up at 7:30 and we came out of the car boot at about 11:30 - boy we did some waling it was huge!!

But i haggled my way to a few bargains and have taken some piccies!
Above some coasters that i want to alter - 20p

Childrens summer dresses that i wanted for the gingham fabric!

Some other garments that i wanted for the fabric

I have already chopped up some of the fabric, then it is winging its way to the washing machine

next up a huge tub of snowflake sequins - 50p!!

and helens crafty find, 2 massive rolls of vintagey coloured gingham ribbon for the pricely sum of 50p!

and lastly another crafty find from helen, we had one each so there was no fighting!! only 75p think it will be a summer holiday project!

Birthday Card Idea :: All one colour embossed with die cut flower embellishment

I had this idea in my head for a whil, and although it didn't turn out exacly as pictured i am really pleased with it!!

and I am even more please with the amazing results from the new spellbinders shapeabilities rose creations die set

The packaging on these dies does not do any justice to what you can create, I guess that is like all spellbinders dies really but these make an amazing bloom!!

This is the first card I have made using my new Big Shot Pro Die

The embossing folder is a papermania / do crafts one i think that came in a set with a couple of greetings but it fitted perfectly!

I love the way the little cupcake slips out of its case for you to write your greeting!

Simple Flower Card :: Sizzix Circles Die from Stampin' Up!

I don't mention on here too often that i am a Stampin' Up! Demo, but I am you know!!

And now they have released the Big Shot and Dies, I am a very Happy crafter!!!

This die was made using the Circles die from SU, it cuts circles in 4 sizes and is fab as it is a chunky die it will cut fabric and felt so you could make some great flowers and brooches with it too!!

A little distressing and some ribbon and hey presto!!

The Prettiest Bunting from a Special Crafter

How pretty is this bunting??? I really do love bunting but my sewing skills are not quite there yet!

This bunting was a wonderful suprise for me during my hectic week last week and i ran up to my craft room to hang it right away!!

My computer faces my window which is where I hung my bunting and when I look up at it, it makes me smile!

It was a lovely gift from a Lady called Sue who i emjoy emailing and we are having a little to a fro swap going on, it is so exciting receiving something in the post not knowing what it is and it is a lovely feeling sending someone an envelope of goodies that you hope will make them smile!

Baby Shower Continued :: Triangular Cone Shaped Favour Boxes with Butterfly Detail

It is these boxes that kept me occupied into the early hours last week!! I made 40 of them, and by made I mean cut and assembled too!!

They were cut using the Bigz XL Die Box Long Triangle ( this die will work in the bigshot / vagabond and cuttlebug using extended cutting plates and crease pad)

They were filled with milk bottle and sherbert lemon sweeties!

and i think they went down a storm!

Hello bloggers I am sorry It has been a bit quiet around here lately, I have just got back from a week away and am feeling all refreshed! Before I went away I had really lost my crafting Mojo and was quite fed up with my blog too!! Well after a week of my own thoughts and lots of sushine I am back and feeling really ready to go!!

I want to re-vamp my blog and give my readers more of what they want, if it be projects, tutorials, reviews, a mooch around my studio (let me tidy first!) or just some chitter chatter I really would love to hear from my readers and see what they would like!! I know you love the die cutting tutorials and I will be doing lots more hints and tips as well as full on how to tutorials so if there is something you are stuck with drop me an email and i will do my best to help

Internet Holiday!

Hello Bloggers!!
I just wanted to say hello, and I am back! I was feeling a little creatively blocked and struggling with what felt like the pressures of blogging! So I took an unplanned holiday from the Internet!! No surfing, No blogging, No hopping! And only the smallest of internetty-ness on my iPhone too!!

I feel much happier and much more creative ready to share some more of my makes with you again, I am not sure what they will be, I have some pics that i have taken over the past few weeks that still need to be blogged but I want to get creating some fresh things too!!

I am being more and more drawn to fabric at the moment and want to start playing with this and using my dies in there too, I am also enjoying crocheting too so can see this popping up on my blog from time to time too, I seem to have concentrated on cards, cards and more cards lately and I would like to have a go at some different things so watch this space!!

While I am on the subject of Fabric, does anyone have any scraps or of cuts they would like to swap for some card making or scrapping stuff or even one of my goodie bags, I have lots of felt but would like to play with some pretty and vintagey patterns too!! If you know of any nice little places that will sell me just a few bits and bobs to play with too just drop me an email (lisa@craftfairies.com)

Just a little bump!!!

I have had a sort out in my craft room which makes me happy!! I still have some goodie bags left (link on the right) if anyone was deliberating over one!! And do also have a few more things that i want to put up for sale too... mainly little things that I will add to my for sale page, but I also have a brand new sewing machine for sale.....

It has never been used as it just looks too complicated for me! I have a mega basic one and was brought the one I am selling but i just find it had too many options and daunts me!!

It is a Toyota SA53 RS2000 Model, it comes with a cover and pedal and with all the tools / feet/ needles etc in the compatment on the machine. The pedal and power lead are still in the platic bag they were packaged in and as i said the machine has never been used!

I have seen well used RS2000 Series machines selling for £60 - £120 So am asking £90 (including postage) for this machine as it is new - It is quite heavey so think it will cost a fiar bit to post!!

To Blog or not to Blog... Continued

Sorry to excite some with todays post, It was a scheduled one that I must have done over the holidays!
But today I have had time to think, I have had a terrible upset tummy today as has Mr Fairy so we are putting it down to last nights Bank Holiday takeaway! I am still feeling really week and rough but have tried something to eat and am just waiting now... to see what happens!

Anyway! Back to the blog! I think time is the biggest thing that gets to me, so I am going to make my posts less wordy, a bit like the post today... I don't want to cut down on photos as i hate it when I look at other peoples blogs and there are only one or two photos and i just want more, I want my blog to be visual!

I had some lovely comments from blog readers (*waves* Thank You x) and many suggested challenges, which is something I am going to have a go at, but will need to be a weekend job! If you know of any good challenges you think would fit my style and that i can enter of a weekend please do let me know!

So normal service should resume shortly, once i feel better ergghh think i need my bed!

To Blog.... or Not to Blog....

I am struggling right now with blogging.... I seem to have lost my blogging mojo and am finding no enjoyment in it right now! I am still taking photos of my makes but that is as far as I get!!

Does anyone else ever feel like this? If you do what can I do to pick myself back up again? I love my blog and have worked hard to get it readers and mould it into what I wanted it to be... I think! Maybe it needs a facelift... Maybe my crafting needs a facelift...oh bloggers I need some advice!

Mini Tutorial :: Getting Tim Holtz Tattered Leaves to look like they do on the box!

I love how the Tattered Leaves look on the die box so thought i would have a go at re-creating them!

First of all i have torn out a page from an old book and shaded it with a mid - green pro marker - I have used lime green

I then die cut the leaves using the tattered leaves die, from the coloured in book page

I then just tickled the edges with my darkets green pro marker - I used Forest Green

I then went over the dark green dragging it inwards about the width of the chisel pen nib with a green lighter than the one i used to colour the book page in originally - I used Leaf Green

Lastly I coloured the whole leaft in with my lightest green - Meadow Green

I am quite pleased with the outcomes and plan to experiment with some oranges and yellows if i have enough shades!

To give them a little more texture i folded the leaves in half down the center then folded them up to give the look of veins and to give them some shape too!

I have been scheduling some blog posts today for when I go back to work, I try to have a post scheduled each day when I am working as I just do not have time to blog!! I usually leave the house at 7:30am and get back in at about 5:30pm unless I go to the gym Then I am home around 7pm and once house work and dinner have been done, I do not have enough energy to craft of blog much!

WOYWW :: RIP Mr Big Shot..... Hello Mr Vagabond!!!

After much deliberation I bit the bullet and ordered a Vagabond, Susan the owner of http://www.countryviewcrafts.co.uk/ (the only place i buy my die cutting stash!) has had one for a little while, and I had always said that if my express died I think I would get one too, but once the express had died I felt sad and a little let down. Sizzix told me that is was 2 years old so in thier opinion had lasted well and that was that!! So I was a little wary, but Susan loves hers and takes it to crops and things so I decided late Thursday to go for it!!

It was ordered Friday, and arrived Monday (thank you Susan), but my car breaking down on Monday kinda took the shine out of its arrival!! http://www.countryviewcrafts.co.uk/ have mega fast and free delivery, what more could you ask for?? I hate waiting for stuff, there is one online shop out there that take over a week for delivery, I am sorry but a girl should not have to wait that long!!!

It was tuesday before Mr Vagabond had been shown his new home and introduced to his big brother Mr Big Shot Pro

So late last night i have a little play, I really like it, it is miles apart from the big shot express and sooo quiet!!

The only thing that frustrates me is that it will not take the MP platform, which is a shame as its such a great little thing! :: ETA: the mp platform does work.... I was being too gentle, if you slot it into the runners rather then trying to drop it onto the platform it does fit!!

I got up early this morning to tackle my scraps drawers, they are over flowing so I am cutting out some mats with my fave nesties (again the whole range of nesties plus free postage at http://www.countryviewcrafts.co.uk/ )

I will use the mats for some quick cards to fill up my cards box as it is looking a bit empty!

And the tiny scraps that i may have been tempted to keep in the past are winging their way to the bin!! I am going to be a tidy, non-hoarding Craft Fairy!!

R.I.P My Big Shot Express :o(

Today is a very sad day in the Craft Fairy Studio
My poor big shot express has died, earlier today i was cutting some letters to finish off a card for my Grandad and it just stopped, nothing happened when i pressed the buttons and my dies were stuck in the machine. I remembered that when i got it it came with a screwdriver and some instructions for if your die got stuck so i dug those out and had to turn it about a million times but got my dies free.
My next thought (a hopeful thought) was that it could be the fuse, so i went out and got a replacemnt fuse, fitted it and held my breath while i tried it again.... nothing he is totally dead

I feel like a lost child, all my projects involve die cutting in some shape or form. He is going to have to be replaced with something but i am not sure what right now - why did it have to happen in the school holidays when i have loads of time to craft!!!

RIP Mr Big Shot you will be dearly missed xxx

I have not blogged in ages, I am so sorry I have had a lot going on and life just took over for a little while!!!
I am back on track and have been having a clear out today!! I have way too much stuff and way too many scraps too!!

Soooooooooooooooo..... I have come to a little solution, I am going to make up all the things i have sorted out in to goodie bags, it is way too many bits and bobs to list on ebay and I don't have the time! So I am going to offer them to followers of my blog (if you are not a follower you can follow me using the link in the sidebar)

I have added a photo of a sample bag, it really overspilled and you can not see all of the 6x6 papers and other bits that are underneath the ribbons and flowers! this is one of the bags but each one will be different and if you need a certain colour scheme like spring or valentines i will do my best just include a note with your address email!!
Each bag will include: Prima flowers (2 bagged sets, plus loose flowers too), Buttons, Ribbon (at least 6 lengths), 6x6 papers (20 sheets), Tickets (12), Slide Mounts (8), Tags (5), a selection of felt flower die cuts, trims, and card die cuts, that is as a basic, I will then add extra items from my clear out stash too which i only have a couple of so each bag will be unique! And each bag will be worth much more than the £4.00 I am charging (free postage too)

HobbyCrafts Exhibition 2011 at The NEC in Birmingham

I thought the amount of bags i had looked bad but in pictures it looks even more!

This blog post is just to show you how naughty I was at the NEC - at least 70% of my spending is Helens fault!

above we have gems, and stamps from LOTV I am not a stamper but have had my eyes on these!! They will fit nicely in my nesties!

next up is my finds from the crafts for £1.00 Stall, clock mechinisms (sp?) christmas papers, tape etc
One lot of tape and the stamps are for my mum and we will also share the chrimbo papers too!

Uh oh more stamps i dunno what came over me!! and some really pretty papers

These little bits fell in my back pack in the sewing hall, scrummy ric rak and some pom pom makers, i have a pattern for a pompom scarf and these will make it super easy!

Various papers....mum i have put some of these in your bag too x

this wooden house was a fab find on the decopatch stall

along with the wooden tray, destined to be my new work in progress tray.... but at the mo it is a work in progress lol!!
i got a selection of papers and this little wooden lizard that i am going to decorate for my mum for her bedroom!

More wooden things from Paper artsy along with dies and matching stamps and some fab card backed metal which i can see me getting through rather fast!

I also got a snazzy bag free with my decopatch stuff that fold up into.....

Some beads, they are kinda furry, i always make some quick bracelets for the school summer fair so these will be great!

And lastly a few patterned papers!!!

Phew!!!
I think after a few stressful weeks i needed a little shopping spree!!! and i well and truely had one!

Crocheting :: Crochet Granny Square Number 2

I have completed my second Granny Square!! Thanks for all of the lovely comments about my first square last week, i am trying to do one a week, may have a blanket for next winter!!!
Although i have taken this up for something to pick up and put down in the evenings i can see it being something i can sit outside in the sunshine and do too!!!

A lot of people said to me that they have tried and struggled, so i just wanted to share with you this book it is the book i have been using and i love it as i find worded instructions impossible to follow but this has drawn out stitch patterns so if you are somone that works better from photos than words it may well just get you hooked!!

Hopefully i will have another to show you next week!!

the matts are made using nesties and nellies dies and the embellies are from K&Co (butterflies and bags) and Joliees (bikes) great for thank yous and little notes!

Today I have aminly been stroking paper!!
My work desk is consumed this week by the most fantastic papers!!

I love textured papers and cards and inspire me really has so much to see

this is a pearl card that has holes punched in it, really fabby for die cutting and collage!!

this is my ultimate fave and it was seeing this at a craft show that mde me go home and go stright on the website to mooch through their range!!
This is not just card (marks and sparks styleee!!) this is card with a wood venieer feel and texture oh its fabby!

last up some lovely polka dots large and small!! oh so pretty and more than just a printed paper!!

right i guess i need to take a deep breath and get chopping can't stroke it forever!!!!!

Card Idea :: Rock Chick 18th Birthday

I was pleased with how this turned out as it started with me sitting in my craft room puzzled clutching my guitar die, "Hannah, 18, Rock Guitar" was my brief!!

The background is embossed with a cuttlebug folder and in replaced patterned paper for sheet music!!

some distress inking and layering....

and quite a bit of die cutting!!

...and I think it turned out ok!

Mini Tutorial :: Re-Stickying Cutting Mats For Cricut and Craft Robo / Silhouette

After all of the comments I got on Wednesdays post I thought i would photograph the re-stickying of my mats and make a mini tutorial for you guys!!
This works on all cutting mats, I use the same method for my cricut and robo mats!

Firstly i scrape off all of the glue, if this is the first time you are re-stickying you wont need to do it but i am lazy and tend to put new glue on over old if i am in a rush so when i re-sticky them properly they need a scrape!
I have this little scraper that came in a toolkit but you can use an old bank card

Once i have scraped all the glue off i give them a quick scrub then leave them to dry over night

Once dry they are ready to be made sticky again! I have tried various glues and this is the glue i find a) lasts longest and b) is the least messy!! It hase a really chunky tip so doing a 12x12 mat is done in seconds!

The wrapper comes off when you open the pen so i have photographed the spare one if anyone wants to go hunting for them! I got mine from Ebay

I have re-stickyed over 10 cricut mats plus arouns the same in ROBO mats and the same pen is still going strong , i would say its around half full now

To re-sticky i simply colour my mat in, i only go in downward strokes and there is no need to pump the pen it flows just right with light strokes

The most importsnt thing to remember is to let the glue dry well before using or adding the cover to the mat, it needs to be completely clear with no shine, this can take a while, I notmally leave mine overnight just to be on the safe side that the sticky is not too strong!

as i said before as it starts to loose its stick i sometimes just give it a quick scribble if i am in need of a quick project!!
I have 2 mats for my machines and have been using them since i had them, they do get marked but this does not affect them when cutting!

Email Problems

Just a little note to say that i have ben having some email problems, my spam filter had gone into overdrive and was permenantly deleting everything after 24hours!!
All should be fixed now but if you have sent me an email of late (not sure how long this has been playing up for!!) and not had a response please do send it again

Shopping Bag Sunday :: Bargain for the Boys!!!!

Only one thing in the shopping bag today but i will be back later with something a little more crafty - I just had to share these with you!!!

I actually brought some last week whrn i did the food shop at morrisons , but didn't blog them as i wanted to go back and see if the price was correct!! there was no price on the shelf (with the easter things) so i picked a couple up and when i went through the checkout they were 50p!!! There are 20 large coins in a pack which is a bargain for using to fill boxes and sweetie bags!!

so thats it in the bag this week, i am trying to be a good girl with my shopping (excluding dies!!)
